Each year in the US there are approximately 46,500,000 surgical procedures and about 10 million gastrointestinal endoscopies. All invasive procedures involve contact by a medical device or surgical instrument with the patient's sterile tissue or mucous membrane. A major risk of all such procedures is the introduction of infection. Our speaker will review the recommendations that should improve disinfection and sterilization practices in healthcare facilities.
