Managing infection prevention and control (IPC) in long-term care settings presents a unique set of challenges and issues. This training provides the foundation of the role of the infection preventionist (IP) and the practice of being an effective IP in a long-term care setting, including creating and managing successful IPC programs and mitigating risk at your facility. This training also covers CMS required topics.

Learning Objectives:
  • Objective #1: Describe the responsibilities of an IP and the role in managing the IPC program.
  • Objective #2: Identify skilled nursing IPC requirements.
  • Objective #3: Identify how to assess IP competency.
  • Objective #4: Describe the role of surveillance in the IPC program and identify practical applications of recommended practices that can be utilized by the IP in their surveillance program.
  • Objective #5: Understand the basics of microbiology, multi-drug resistant organisms, clostridioides difficile and risk factors.
  • Objective #6: Understand and create a vaccination plan.

Training on 5/8 and 5/9 will go from 8 AM - 4:15 PM CT.  Training on 5/10 will go from 8 AM - 12 PM CT.
