Management of Pediatric Patients – They Are More Than Just Small Adults

Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 1 pm ET

Speaker: Valerie Ausborn

Pediatric patient care cannot be individual, it needs to be family-centered. This can be challenging for cases of highly contagious illness. When a patient presents with a contagious illness, it is important to consider all of those with the patient ill or exposed. Management of these patients and their caregivers is important to prevent spread of disease throughout a healthcare facility and community. Isolation compliance for pediatric patients can be challenging. This presentation will discuss strategies for effective management of transmission-based compliance in pediatric settings, and draw from experience managing threats like tuberculosis, measles and COVID-19. It will also discuss how the clinical teams treat the patient directly while learning about the diagnosis of family members as well.
