Leadership Series: Recruitment and Retention Strategies for Infection Prevention
Thursday, August 24, 2023 @ 1 pm ET
Chaz Rhone and Katie Cary

According to the 2020 APIC Megasurvey approximately 40% of IPs are aged 56+ and will retire within the next 10-15 years. Additionally, a survey of IPs in 2019 showed that it can take >3 months to fill IP vacancies and the cost of IP turnover is likely similar to nursing ranging from $33,000 to $56,000. To ensure the success of our profession, IPs everywhere should focus on being intentional about recruitment and retention. In this session Katie Cary MT(ASCP), MPH, CIC and Chaz Rhone MPH, CIC, FAPIC will discuss recruitment and retention strategies for IP and share what HCA Healthcare is doing to attract and develop infection preventionists.
